The Nursing Associate Program Director is responsible for teaching assigned courses, as it relates to the Nursing program, and planning learning activi! ties to meet education outcomes based on the standard set by policies, regulatory requirements and acceptable practices. The position assists the Nursing Program Administrator in providing leadership for the nursing faculty in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating and evaluating curricula and programs in nurse education. The Nursing Associate Program Director works with the N PD to ensure program compliance with State regulations and national accrediting bodies' standards. The Nursing Associate Program Director is responsible for providing education, academic and career advisement of students and supporting faculty with mentoring and development. The Nursing Associate Program Director will be trained in the duties of the Nursing Program Director role.
DUTIES
Provide a strong, positive leadership example to Nursing Faculty. Assist the Nursing Program Director in their absence with normal duties in the Nursing Program Director role.
Teach a co! urse load equivalent to half a load as determined by the Nursi! ng Program Administrator.
For each course taught, follow course syllabus meeting course objectives and stated competencies (Student learning outcomes, course and unit objectives, and evaluation methods).
Keep accurate and timely attendance and grade records, posting to the portal. Monitor and follow-up on students' attendance.
Implement the college retention plan.
Post office hours and work schedule with availability for student advisement.
Advise students as assigned by PA.
Under the direction of the NPA coordinate course scheduling and faculty assignments each semester.
Assist in recruiting and hiring full-time and adjunct faculty.
Develop and implement an annual professional development plan; guide other faculty members in the same process.
Assist with the evaluation of faculty performance and ensure development and supervision as needed. Observe and evaluate performance of faculty members as it pertains to their professional developme! nt.
Attend and participate in scheduled meetings as required.
Ensure academic counseling is done by faculty for students in the program.
Ensure implementation of the SEP (Systematic Evaluation Plan) for NLNAC on campus. Oversee evaluation of specified areas in comprehensive evaluation plan.
Participate in College activities including commencement activities.
Provide input into program operating and capital expenditure budgets.
Work with the Nursing Program Director and college officers to ensure program is in compliance with all accreditation standards.
Participate in, implementation, evaluation and updating of curriculum.
Ensure Faculty review, implement, evaluate and maintain the curriculum consistently across campus(es).
Review accuracy of course syllabi.
Assist Nursing PA and faculty in development of self-study reports.
Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies related to student practice exper! iences.
Assist with the coordination of all practice experiences in! cluding initiating new and ensuring current practice contracts. Ensure timely use of all evaluative tools.
Work with program faculty to facilitate excellent relationships with practice/practicum sites.
Coordinate development and implementation of practice/practicum schedules for students in conjunction with identified needs specific to campus and faculty members.
Represent N PD where assigned.
All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of three (3) years of experience teaching in an accredited nursing education program.
Master's degree in nursing (MSN) required. PhD preferred in nursing or related field.
Possess or be eligible for Utah RN License.
Strong proficiency in MS Office, databases, reporting software, etc. Preferably experience with CampusVue.
Preferred but not required:
Strong interpersonal and exceptional communication skills.
Demonstrated management and leadership! abilities with nurses.
Experience with budgeting, hiring/firing/discipline/remediation/mentoring of nurses and/or nursing faculty.
Experience developing and mentoring nursing faculty, especially those new to teaching.
Experience with accreditation process (ACEN preferred).
Must have the ability to read, understand and carry out instructions in English in written and oral form.
Academic preparation in curriculum design and development, implementation, and evaluation stronly preferred. Knowledge of current RN practice. Organizational skills and management experience including accountability for fiscal tracking. Ability to manage program population of at least 120 students. Ability to organize and constantly re-prioritize in order to have adequate time to fulfill the role and responsibilities.
