The primary care physician will work in the health centers providing primary medical care services to the
patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Duties and! Responsibilities
- Acts as Lead member of the clinical care team which consists of a physician, nurse practitioner, MA, RN support and administrative support (front desk clerk); acts as team leader- takes the most active role in setting the pace, the quantity and quality of comprehensive medical care provided to Molina patients.
- Provides primary medical care within the standard of care for the primary specialty (Internal Medicine or Family Practice).
- Orders laboratory and radiology tests as appropriate- keeping in mind the environment of limited resources.
- Consults with specialists regarding patient referrals; assists in providing adequate and appropriate medical information during the provision of specialist care; assist in securing ancillary services requested by consulting physician.
- Acts as supervising physician for up to three nurse practitioners. Physician is responsible for providing the necessary amount of oversight as! required by the (applicable) State Board of Nursing and as re! quired to satisfy the supervising physician's individual requirements. Participate in Nurse Practitioner review process.
- Supervises and consults with charge nurse regarding patient evaluation, triage and disposition.
- Consults with hospital physicians regarding a patient's hospital admission or ER evaluation.
- Maintains complete, timely and legible medical records. Returns charts to medical records office daily.
- Attends required meetings. Participates in committees as assigned.
- Meets or exceeds productivity goals in regard to patient visits.
- Participates in physician's QA program.
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Must be able to work in a busy clinical setting.
- Must be able to assess and respond to urgent issues in a competent manner.
- Must maintain effective relationships and communication with the staff at all le! vels of the organization.
- Good organizational skills are required.
- Work at other sites to accommodate patient load.
- Professional attitude and adherence to office policies and procedures is required.
- Serves as good ambassador for Molina when working with non-Molina staff, volunteers, visiting consultants, residents and other health professional trainees.
- Actively integrates deployed staff into the team concept.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to abide by Molina's policies
- Maintain regular attendance based on agreed-upon schedule
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
- Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective work relationships with coworkers, clients, members, providers and customers
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
- Graduation from a! n accredited medical school
- Experienced clinical physician
- Board certified in primary care (family practice or internal medicine) or board eligible if physician has graduated within the last 2 years.
- 2 yrs. clinical experience required (includes residency experience), 3+ yrs. preferred
- Managed care experience preferred
- Licensure/Certification: Licensed in the (applicable) State and with the DEA
