Under the direct supervision of the! Clinical Supervisor/Charge Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) is responsible for supporting the nursing staff with routine duties. Promotes a positive teamwork environment, which emphasizes respect to all including, patients, families, physicians, staff and other departments.

Provides encouragement, support and comfort to patients and family members.

Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.

Provides age and culturally appropriate care to the adolescent, adult and elderly population.

Orients and mentors new staff members and volunteers.

Follows Universal Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Completes training as a Phlebotomist.

Completes EKG training in order to perform 12 lead EKG’s.

Complies with Hospital mission, HCA’s Code of Ethics and completes annual education on Healthstream! and skills competency check-offs.

Performs unit rece! ptionist duties; answers telephone calls, responds to routine inquiries, greets and directs students, MD's and unit visitors and relays other calls and messages to ensure that unit communications are processed in a timely manner.

Orders and stocks clerical supplies and equipment in accordance with unit procedure and as necessary.

Confers with other departments to ensure the efficiency of Day Surgery. Communicates changes with other department and unit coordinator.

Assembles charts for surgical patients and assures that all needed documentation is present.

Accountable for adhering to the ‘I am ORMC’ commitment.

Adheres to the Hospital’s Safety policies and demonstrates safe practices in all patient care.

Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Current Utah Certification as a Nurse Assistant required.

Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provide! r.

1 year experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.

Able to work in a fast paced, high energy environment.

EKG and phlebotomy skills needed.

Clerking experience and excellent computer skills.

Needs to love people.
