Patients need a caring, ! highlyâ"trained and supportive team to maximize recovery and regain independence. The Specialty Hospital provides advanced longâ"term acute care, including high observation/critical care, for patients who require time to heal from catastrophic injury or illness.The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for the comfort and wellâ"being of patients through the use of the nursing process and supports ANA standards of nursing. Therefore, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessments, planning, supervising, interventions, and evaluations designed to prevent complications of physical disability, restore optimal functioning and help the patient adapt to an altered life style. The Registered Nurse is responsible for overseeing patient care provided through support personnel.
The RN provides care to adolescents through geriatric age patients. This goal is met by cooperation and communication with interâ"andâ"intraâ"departmental staff, patients and f! amilies. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Completes physical assessment/summary of findings on assigned patients.Completes admission assessment, including evaluation and signatureCoordinates continuous shift assessment to determine the diagnoses or issuesPrioritizes data collection activities based on the patientâs immediate condition or anticipated needsWith appropriate input from all team members, documents a patient care plan and creates expected outcomesUpdates Plan of Care/Interdisciplinary Team Conference notes at least weeklyDiscusses plan of care with patient and/or significant otherParticipates in Heads Up, Morning Huddle and Team Conference when appropriate.Identifies patient and family learning needs. Teaches patients and families using effective teaching methods and then documents accordinglyUnderstands and adheres to infection control and wound care standards of practiceRedirects plan of care as condition indicatesCompletes all documentati! on and uses appropriate abbreviationsContacts physicians in a timely ma! nner and follows appropriate chain of commandParticipates in Process Improvement as directed by nursing leadershipMaintains patient confidentiality within legal and regulatory parametersAttends staff meetings and other required meetings as directed by nursing and hospital leadershipIntegrates the hospitalâs mission and âGuiding Principlesâ into daily practice Required Skills: Current RN license in the state of Utah required.Current CPR certification requiredCurrent ACLS certification requiredHospital experience preferredProficient use of appropriate forms in documenting care and medical necessityAbility to prioritize tasks and careAbility to demonstrate clinical proficiency utilizing policies, procedures, and guidelines in caring for patientsKnowledge about accreditations standards to ensure adherence to all standards set forth by the State and accrediting agencies of TJC and CMS.
