Western Governors University is currently seeking fulltime Course Mentors and Student Mentors (both faculty positions) for the College of Business, College of Education, ! College of Information Technology, College of Health Professions, and General Education.

Course Mentors serve as subject matter experts for each program curriculum and provide academic help to students using both synchronous and asynchronous technology. Course Mentors actively engage students in learning course content and addresses student/content concerns by mentoring students in effective study practices and in the use of learning resources. Course Mentors are responsible to achieve student success as measured by assessment pass rates and successful, on-time course completion. They proactively lead one-to-one and one-to-many sessions to help students develop competencies. The Course Mentor position requires a doctorate degree in a related area. Course mento! rs can be located anywhere in the continental United States.
Student Mentors serve a critical advising and support role for student success. Student Mentors are a studentâs primary source of information about program operation, and about the policies and procedures of the university. Student Mentors counsel their assigned students in understanding expectations and overcoming obstacles to ensure success. Student Mentors are experts in their students' academic program. They advise students on time management and schedule benchmarks for students to successfully master program concepts, knowledge and skills. They are well organized and good communicators, interpersonally, technologically, and in writing. Student Mentors are responsible to provide direct, comprehensive program guidance to assigned students and to manage students' academic progress. Student Mentors maintain regular communication with assigned students according to university protocol. The Student mento! r position requires a masterâs degree in a related area and 3 years i! ndustry experience.
