Allied Health Education Specialist - Moab, UT
Position Summary
The Department of Biology (http://www.biology.usu.edu) seeks to fill! a part-time Allied Health Education Specialist at the USU Moab Education Center. Responsibilities include teaching labs and lectures in allied health programs including Certified Nursing Assistant and Medical Assisting.
Responsibilities
Depending on the course(s) taught, the successful candidate will: (1) teach courses/labs according to accreditation and certification standards, (2) organize the lab and order materials and ensure that the necessary supplies are at hand for each lab activity, (3) prepare supplies and equipment for class/lab sessions, (4) ensure that students receive adequate safety training and maintain safety protocols, (5) keep laboratory and equipment in good working order, (6) arrange for professional servicing of equipment as needed, (7) autoclave and discard used microbial media and other biohazard waste, (8) proctor and grade lab tests/quizzes as needed and directed, (9) interact with students through e-mail or other available means! , (10) hold review sessions, (11) communicate with class instr! uctor on a weekly basis, and (12) attend a coordination meeting with course instructor at the beginning of each semester.
Minimum Qualifications
Licensed in the State of Utah as a Registered Nurse. At least two years of clinical experience, including one-year working with extended care patients. Ability to teach first aid, CPR, and first responder skills, CNA content, and medical assisting labs. Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience in teaching in higher education, particularly in Allied Health or Nursing programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching nontraditional students is preferred.

Office Environment: Employees are protected from weather conditions or contaminants, but not necessarily occasional temperature changes. Oils: There is air or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids.
